| This page is dedicated to the challenges undertaken and spectacles we've put on over the last few months, all raising money for ActionAid. We should of course mention all those friends and family that were able to make these events succeed either through monetary contribution, hard graft or simply moral support. |
Recent Events
Morrisons Charity Event - June 10th - Dwyer and some friends undertook a bag-packing fund-raising event at Morrisons Supermarket in Chorlton. This gave us an opportunity to promote ActionAid to the public to raise awareness, raise some cash and learn how to pack a bag properly. In the space of 3 and a half hours we raised £350 which was very impressive so many thanks to the generous people of Chorlton and to the volunteers: Steve, Rich C, Michelle, Luke and Rich S.

BBQ and Concert - June 3rd 2006 - For our farewell party, our good friend Dave Wood organised a mammoth event with beer, music and delicious barbequed lamb. Music was performed by The Trophy Wives (a Manchester based Indie band) and Flogging a Dead Horse (Irish Traditional). The entire event was fantastic and we managed to raise about £600 for ActionAid which was another good result for our fund raising. A great big thank you to Dave and his family and friends for this one - it will certainly be a great memory to look back on....but if beer diluted any memories, please see the photos below!

Flora London Marathon - April 23rd 2006 - Richard bravely (insanely) enroled to compete in the London Marathon and managed to raise £1500! He finished in 04:00:58 and in 11947th place which by all standards for his first (and probably last!) marathon is pretty good. Unfortunately the shots of Richard actually running the marathon all turned out pretty poorly, but the ActionAid team were there at the end of the race to capture Richard having a congratulatory cup of tea!
Richard: "I remember having very little strength to hold that tea! It also took me four days before I could walk normally let alone think of taking the stairs anywhere. But despite the anguish, it was a cracking day!"
To support his good friend in this endeavour Dwyer organized Richards training plan and provided motivation (from his armchair).

Past Events
Detailed below are some of the fundraising events we have taken part in. |

Live8, London - July 2nd 2005 - the eight biggest world economic powers gathered in Edinburgh for the G8 summit, and the massive Live 8 event, staged in several cities world-wide, took place a few days earlier. We spent the day at the London event in Hyde Park raising awareness of third world poverty and convincing thousands of people to get involved in pressurising the goverment into cancelling third world debt.
The music was of course fantastic, and several game people had temporary tattoos to mark the occassion and show support for the 'Don't Make Poverty, Make Poverty History' Campaign. The good sport below had this tattoo on his head! |

| Live Music Gig, Manchester, Iguana Bar - Sept 3rd 2005 - This event took place up in Manchester in Summer 2005. Dwyer and several friends put on a great show at the Iguana Bar in Chortlon (big thanks to Pascal!) and kindly donated all proceedings and band fees for the night to ActionAid. We managed to raise a total of £185 for the night so a big thank you to all who attended the event and gave so generously!
The bands below (clockwise from top-left) are Devil's Dance, The Kerfunken, Flogging a Dead Horse and Ransom. |
